When Sasges Inc. was invited to design an issue of Applied Arts magazine, we were delighted. Since the launch of Canada’s visual communication magazine in 1986, only three other studios have been given this honour, none of them west of Toronto. Read the rest of this entry »

It took a weekend in Arizona, a goat, a turtle and four vintage hand-crank presses to learn what the phrase, “mind your p’s and q’s” really means.

Last November, we left frosty Calgary behind and flew to sun-drenched Scottsdale, to spend a weekend at Letterpress Central, a tiny studio with an impressive collection of vintage printing presses and endless cases of wood and lead type. Read the rest of this entry »

We once saw an article where they said, “pity the spouse of a designer” and we have to agree — as designers we wouldn’t want to expose ourselves to… well… ourselves; the endless critique of all things designed, the constant re-evaluation of the minutia, the angst at having to make the simplest of visual decisions and the obsessive need to edit and simplify. Being a designer is a blessing and a curse and at Sasges Inc. we wear the designer badge with pride. But sometimes, we catch ourselves and say, “ Wow, that obsession is really over the top”. After rolling out our first-ever Sasges Inc. Lawn Bowling Tournament, we’re convinced that a day on the green is the perfect way to salute our tireless suppliers. Rain was definitely not on the itinerary when the Sasges Inc. team arrived in Los Angeles for our mid-century modern mid-winter break. We were greeted by blue skies, palm trees and classic Southern California weather. It was a chance for our team to relax, enjoy each other’s company and be inspired by California design.

What colour is that #@%!! book?… an exasperated phrase commonly heard in the Sasges Inc. studio. Most libraries use the dewey decimal system, not Sasges Inc.! Colour coded and displayed in our boardroom are books about design, brand building, design, marketing, design, typography… and well, more design. You’ll also find the latest Sasges Inc. projects on display ~ we’re proud of our work and we’re proud of our clients.

Our Elektra ~ affectionately known as the “Screaming Eagle” for the silver eagle perched atop is an incredible machine. Not only does it look great but it makes amazing espresso. We regularly avail ourselves of its powerful caffeine creations. Part conversation piece, part working coffee machine, the Screaming Eagle is a work of art unto itself.
